The HR controls MBus (meter bus) BACnet gateway is an intelligent gateway, which was developed for the change of data between the MBus and the BACnet. The Gateway has a RS232 interface for the connection the MBus head station and a Ethernet interface, over which the gateway is locked to the management level over BACnet Ethernet protocol.

Architecture of the M-Bus Gateways

Central piece of the gateway is a SQL data base, in which all relevant data and all instalationdata are stored. This data base is stored regularly on non removable disk, in order to be after a power failure immediately again access ready. Hereby overrun can be kept very small with voltage failure.

All in the data base configured MBus counter are queried by the gateway in freely configurable time intervals and their current values (counts) in the data base are stored.

These values are available then on the BACnet side for the selection as "analog inputs". On m-bus side all counters are supported, which exhibit the following specifications: 1. Baud rate: 300, 2400 or 9600 2. Data are spent in "variable DATA respond" the format 3. Counters are addressed via primary addressing (1..250) 4. Counters work in "Mode1" counter, which works in the "Mode2" and/or with "fixed DATA response", are not at present supported. These methods are implemented, could not not be tested however until today due to missing Probanten. With inquiries not only the current value of the counter, also still further information, which can be likewise queried over the BACnet side, returns but supplies current m-bus counter.

• Each free BACnet DEVICE ID can be assigned to the gateway.

• Gateway supports the BACnet service "I`am"

• Gateway supports the BACnet service of the "ObjectBrowsens", i.e. each BACnet Client knows an inquiry over all in the gateway agreed BACnet of objects to arrange and gets a complete list as answer back. This facilitates the start-up of its BACnet management level, since you can always inquire the current conditions of your configuration.
